A New Year's ReVolution!
Weekly Word #1 ~ January,
2007
We are well into the New Year, and the Sunday comics and TV
comedians are doing their usual jokes and routines about resolutions
for the new year that have failed to work.
It is a funny sort of idea so many people have. . .that if
they make an agreement with themselves to do something, or behave
in a particular way that they have never been able to-- it will
work this time because the calendar is changing. NOW they will
eat less, exercise more, be nicer to their loved ones, take
more time out for themselves, and so many other worthy ambitions.
As most of us have learned, it is not that easy. The troubling
resistance factor is the voice of the Inner Judge that lives
in the back of the mind saying: "It will never work, why
do you even try!? You always say you are going to exercise (be
more loving, etc) but you never keep it up." That Mean
Old Judge is beating up on the Little Ones inside of you that
want so much to do better and get it right.
One of those Little Ones is the Victim Child. This is the part
of you that learned to feel powerless when you were trying to
get your childhood needs met, and "they" were not
listening, or shaming, or worse. If that powerless Victim Child
is still being ignored in your inner world, he or she will give
up the resolutions in the first few weeks.
So, I am calling for a NEW YEAR'S REVOLUTION! To revolt against
that Inner (and the outer) Judge-- JUST SAY NO!! Love the parts
that feel powerless. Listen to them, and restore their power.
Hear them, feel them, respond to them, and they will all cooperate
to make your dreams come true.
The New Dream is the Dream of Heaven on Earth: A dream of self-love
and acceptance, and the personal empowerment and freedom that
brings.
